WHO WE ARE
RomARS
Rome Applications, Research and Systems was born from the passion for research of the three founders who, since about twenty years, work in an international framework to design, develop and validate innovative network technologies. Network protocols, satellite systems, 5G mobile networks and virtualised network architectures represent a solid technological background gained in more than 35 projects funded in the information engineering sector.
WHAT DO WE OFFER
Consultancy
We support research, development and innovation for telecommunications solutions, including 5G networks, satellite networks, multimedia applications, virtualization, new protocols and new integrated network services.
Ideas
Conceiving and proposing advanced solutions that start from research in the direction of the market: applied research allows us to anticipate market dynamics by investing in pioneering technologies that can represent a solid and innovative basis in the launch of new telecommunications services and applications.
Project management
We coordinate and support project management and technical management for the realization of proposals and the execution of ESA, EU, national and regional projects.
Design and development
We can support the design and development of advanced telecommunications solutions in all phases of system engineering, from the drafting of the requirements, to the definition of the architectures, to the development of SW and system integration, to validation, testing and prototyping.
Simulation
We carry out simulations and emulations of telecommunication processes for the feasibility study, design, dimensioning and performance evaluation of complex networks, including 4G / 5G and satellite wireless systems.
Teaching and dissemination
We can organize training activities and scientific / technical publication and dissemination of research, study and critical analysis of terrestrial and satellite telecommunications networks
LABORATORY
RomARS has a laboratory to support research, design and development activities which is in constant evolution. The main components are network simulators, network testbeds, including high-performance workstations, pre-installed virtual environments (bare-metal hypervisors, Virtual Machines, OpenStack), network devices and services, software development environments. We also have broadband connectivity through the GARR high-speed national network connected to the European Internet infrastructure Geant / Grid. We have as well modems for access to satellite and terrestrial networks, as well as LTE femtocells, and mobile and fixed terminals for the development, design and evaluation of services and communication protocols.
Simulation
Preliminary analysis, scalability, design, validation. We have extensive experience with NS2, NS3, S-NS3 network simulators as well as the use of Matlab and STK (AGI satellite Systems Toolkit)
Emulation
Validation and verification of concepts, virtualization, network functions, applications and real traffic.
We have several virtualized testbeds for Linux based network emulation, as well as access to real terrestrial and satellite networks, and 4G / LTE femtocells.

Collaborations
The laboratory activities are also carried out in collaboration with industrial and academic partners, integrating when necessary other simulation and emulation components and COTS equipment to support several design, development and innovation activities
