Complete solution with 5G Core and various options for access both via real or emulated RAN and/or WiFi access in Untrusted and Trusted modes.
Open and flexible system suitable for developing and testing both applications and transport links and related equipment.
Several possible implementations and optional features are available.

Deployment 1: Entry Level with 5G in the cloud and emulated access
Useful for the first training on 5G networks. Starting point to enter the 5G world.

Solution
All network functions are emulated and hosted in the RomARS cloud.
UE is emulated in a laptop at the customer’s site and connected via VPN

Network Functions provided by RomARS
● Emulated UE client
● 5G NR emulator and WiFi access point
● 5G Core and N3IWF emulator

Deployment 2: Dedicated in-house 5G network
You don’t need to be an expert in 5G Core – use our support and presets. Focus on your application or transport link

Solution
All Network Functions can be hosted in dedicated hardware (or cloud) at the customer’s premises
Network Functions provided by RomARS
● Emulated 5G EU client (on a laptop)
● 5G NR emulator
● 5G Core
● N3IWF
Network Functions provided by the Customer
● Real WiFi User Terminal (Laptop) and related WiFi Access Point
● Backhaul Connectivity from the Access Point to the 5G Core

Implementation 3: Developer System
Complete and open solution to easily integrate and test other applications, user devices or access devices.

Solution
All Network Functions are hosted in dedicated hardware (or cloud) at the customer’s premises
Network Functions Provided by RomARS
● 5G Core
● N3IWF

Network Functions provided by the Customer
● Android 5G UE terminal with true 5G gNB RAN
● UE WiFi laptop with its WiFi access point
● Backhaul connectivity from the Access Point and from 5G RAN to 5G Core
NOTE: This implementation is also available with TRUSTED access to the 5G network. The integrated access point with the TNAP function and the relative gateway to the TNGF network are available.

4. Other Options and Features
To complete the available solutions:
● It is possible to connect and use other 5G cores instead of the preconfigured 5GCore provided by RomARS
● Non-3GPP “TRUSTED” access (TNAN) instead of “Untrusted” access.
– a specific Access Point is required and provided by RomARS
● Evolution of the N3IWF towards a more generic Multi Access Gateway capable of managing different types of radio access: Wi-Fi, Zigbee, LoRa, Bluetooth
● Access Traffic Steering-Switching Splitting (ATSSS) server
– to pair with the ATSSS client provided in the UE

All RomARS 5G solutions are characterized by:
3GPP Standards Features
● Compliant with 3GPP release-15/16, with support for untrusted and trusted options for non-3GPP access.
● Supports Release-16 options for multi-access (when RAN and non-3GPP access are both available to the user (UE)), including:
– MA-PDU Sessions
– Support for ATSSS-LL with different traffic management modes
– MPTCP Proxy/Converter
– Handover of 3GPP Session PDUs to non-3GPP (and vice versa)

RomARS 5G Core Features
● Compatible with COTS RANs and UERANSIM
● Compatible with non-3GPP trusted and untrusted access
● Implementation of the main NFs:
– NRF, PFC, SMF, AMF, AUSF, UDM, UPF, NSSF
● Implementation of optional NFs:
– NWDAF (beta)
● Up to 6 Gbit/s per vCore of aggregate throughput
● Web GUI for configuration and monitoring

Installation Options
● Pre-configured in COTS hardware (example in the figure)
● In-Cloud
● VM at your premises
A Virtual Machine is available to emulate the user equipment (UE) for simultaneous non-3GPP access and 3GPP radio access via UE_RAN_SIM, with support for ATSSS and MA-PDU Session.
