INTRODUCTION

A single connection may not be enough

Modern services require networks and links with high performance, business continuity, and resiliency. Using a single connection is often not enough to meet these requirements.

The RomARS solution based on MultiPath TCP and MultiPath QUIC allows you to combine two or more physical connections and create high-performance connections.

The platform enables Telecom operators and service providers to offer their customers faster, more stable and much more resilient connections than those based on a single login.

OVERVIEW

The RomARS MultiLink solution

The RomARS MultiLink solution allows you to aggregate multiple homogeneous or even heterogeneous connections — e.g. fiber, LTE, 5G or satellite — and intelligently manage them through advanced protocols such as multipath QUIC and TCP.

With this approach, you can:

  1. Increase available capacity
  2. Improve service continuity
  3. Reduce the impact of network errors, congestion or failures

The system dynamically selects and uses the available links, taking advantage of the characteristics of each of them to optimize the overall performance of the connection.

Advanced Link Usage Strategies

The system allows you to apply different traffic management strategies based on your service objectives.

Capacity aggregation Sum the capacity of the different links to increase the available speed, and combined resource utilization of the different links to improve overall efficiency.
Redundancy Automatic switching to a secondary link if the primary link is lost.
Resiliency Duplicate packets across multiple links to significantly increase the likelihood of delivery under challenging network conditions.
Choosing the best channel Dynamic link selection with the lowest error rate per bit (BER).
Low-delay routing Routing traffic over the link with the lowest latency.

Advantages of the RomARS solution

  • Available both as a dedicated hardware device and as a virtual machine, easily integrated into operators’ infrastructures.
  • Integrated web interface for system configuration, management and monitoring.
  • Access to advanced metrics, real-time data and KPIs, which can also be integrated with machine learning systems.
  • Dedicated parameters for the preventive optimization of satellite links.
  • Direct support of RomARS in the definition of requirements, development, implementation and operational activities in the field.

ARCHITECTURE

Base

Customers with a fixed location or on the move and with a single satellite or terrestrial connection. Need to maximize connection performance, apply data encryption solutions and traffic segmentation in different flows with different QOS.

Multiantenna

Customers with a fixed or mobile location equipped with various satellite and/or terrestrial connections. Requirement to bundle the traffic of the different connections and take advantage of the possibility of backup/failover in case of malfunction of a connection. Need to maximize the performance of connections, apply data encryption solutions and traffic segmentation in different flows with different QoS.

Multisite

Customers with an installed base consisting of multiple fixed or mobile stations. Each station has either BASE or MULTIANTENNA functionality. The customer needs to aggregate all traffic and manage the network of connections from a single centralized location.
